Filme Falado-Reserva Cultural Festival
An event dedicated to bringing together landmark Brazilian cinematic works and great artists, aiming to breathe new life into independent street cinemas by turning them into spaces of cultural invention.
About the Festival
The festival, titled "Cinema for You?!", was born out of the need to create a gathering space for filmmakers, students, and seventh-art enthusiasts. For each event—all of which are recorded—we invite an outstanding cultural figure to co-create an interactive dialogue with the audience. The idea is to create live occurrences where the spontaneity of theatrical happenings is introduced into the world of film, while honoring the language and boundaries of each guest artist.
Naturally, these "occurrences" stem from extensive research and preparation: our role is to contribute to audience development. Yet, as Peter Brook famously said, being on stage is to encounter life itself. And life is invention. Beyond informing the public, our goal is to offer a creative and fresh way to promote Brazilian cinema, encouraging a younger, more diverse audience to embrace the theatrical experience.
We joined forces with Reserva Cultural because we share a common mission: transforming movie theaters into vibrant, multidisciplinary cultural hubs. We need to remind people that at the cinema, they discover far more than just a movie. After all, if it were solely about watching a film, one could easily stay home on digital streaming platforms at a lower cost. What only the cinema venue can offer is a shared, immersive experience that transcends the screen. Cinemas are like theaters—they thrive on artistic invention. By transforming street-level cinemas into cultural centers, we can inspire audiences to truly value these sacred spaces once again.
The curatorship, crafted alongside the invited artists—who select their chosen film—prioritizes works that challenge traditional conventions and provoke thought.
